What is tiger's eye?
Tiger's eye is a variety of quartz and has a striated yellow-brown to brown colour. In the modern world, it was discovered in South Africa in 1886 during the search for gold and diamonds. The stone gets its name from its light reflection reminiscent of a tiger's eye and has a cat's eye effect, also known as chatoyering.
Protection in Roman battle
The luster of tiger's eye comes from the parallel growth of quartz crystals and amphibole fibres that are mainly turned into limonite. Besides tiger's eye, there is also tiger iron, which is composed of tiger's eye, red jasper and black haematite. Tiger's eye is used in some parts of the world as protection against the evil eye and Roman soldiers wore engraved tiger's eye to protect themselves during battle.
Courage and risk
Tiger's eye helps you to live more courageously, tackle life bravely and fight challenges more fiercely. It supports you and is a great way to overcome fear and take more risks in all aspects of life. Tiger Eye's healing properties come from its combination of solar and earth elements, making it both inspiring and grounding. Its appearance reflects the powerful energy similar to the lone cat it is named after.
