What is Morganite?

Morganite is a light pink to violet variety of beryl. The beryl group also includes aquamarine and the well-known emerald. That is why Morganite is sometimes referred to as a pink Emerald. Within the beryl group, morganite is one of the rarest varieties, only the red bixbite is less common. This makes morganite a beloved and rare gemstone.

History of morganite

In 1910 Morganiet was first identified as a mineral of its own in Madagascar. It was then called 'pink beryl'. Soon George F. Kunz, a famous American gemstone scientist renamed it to Morganite. He did this as a tribute to J.P. Morgan, an important American banker and fanatical gemstone collector.

Working of Morganite

Because of its pink colour, morganite is seen as a stone of love. It is a popular gemstone in wedding rings. The stone helps to deal with stress and anxiety and cleans the soul. Morganite can bring the male and female energies into balance.
