Indochiniet tektites are black melted pieces of stone and sand that form at a meteorite impact. The Tektite is a mix of terrestrial and extraterrestrial materials. Because of the enormous heat of a meteorite impact a mix of terrestrial and earthy sand and rock is melted into glass.

Raining glass drops

The force of impact ensures that the molten glass pieces are thrown over a vast distance. After a meteorite impact it rains glass drops far and wide. In the tektites it is easy to see the teardrop shape of the devastating "glass rain.
