What is Kyanite?

Kyanite is an aluminum silicate mineral with banded leaf crystals that can be transparent or translucent with a pearlescent sheen. Kyanite is known for its blue color but also occurs in white, indigo, green and black.

Naming of Kyanite

Kyanite comes from the Greek word "kuanos" which means "deep blue". Another name for kyanite is disthene. Kyanite is heat resistant and is often used in refractory bricks or casting molds, but also in dentures, for example.

Effect of Kyanite

Kyanite has a calming effect and helps to remember dreams. The stone inspires loyalty and fair treatment and helps restore relationships. Kyanite does not hold negativity and never needs cleansing.
