What are ammonites?
Ammonites were a group of molluscs living in the sea that included today's squid. Nowadays, these animals have their shell inside but the Ammonites still had their shell outside the body, just like snails. This Perisphinctes ammonite lived in the Late Jurassic period and is between 163 to 145 million years old and completely fossilised.
