Cryolite mine
Cryolite is a sodium hexafluoroaluminate and belongs to the halide mineral group. It is a rather rare mineral that is found in few places in the world. The main site is in Ivigtût on the west coast of Greenland. Until 1987 there was even a mine here for the extraction of cryolite.
Extraction of aluminium
In the past, cryolite was mainly used to extract aluminium, it was also a critical element in the manufacture of bauxite. As a result, the supply of cryolite has been drastically reduced and nowadays it is a rarity.
The ice stone
The refractive index of cryolite is almost equal to that of water. This means that transparent cryolite seems to disappear in a glass of water. Also turbid cryolite seems to fade at the edges when immersed in water. This is similar to the effect of ice. The name is derived from the Greek words: 'kryos' which means frozen and 'lithos' which means stone.
Effects of cryolite
Kryolite provides stability in the energy flows and serves as a regulator for optimal physical health. The stone also helps with public speaking and decision making. It purifies all ethereal bodies making it easier to reach a higher consciousness.
