What kind of fossils are there?
Shark teeth and dinosaur teeth are well known fossils that are not petrified. These teeth are preserved by the surrounding rock and sediment. Petrified wood is the best known example of petrified fossils. The wood is dissolved in the course of time and replaced by minerals. Lik this the structure of the wood is still well visible. Also prints from leaves or fish make very nice fossils.
Evolution of the Earth
Fossils are very important for scientists when it comes to the evolution of the earth. Fossils provide a good insight into the development of life on our planet. It also helps with examining animal and plant species that have been extinct. Collecting fossils is very popular around the world and a nice way to own a piece of Earth history.
Changing selection of fossils
Here we offer a varying selection of fossils. The selection ranges from very old fossils like the orthoceras which lived 400 million years ago, until mammoth bones pieces that are only 100.000 years old. We regularly add new fossils to keep a nice diversion.
